Photographed in the main image are members of AZ-TF1’s Rescue Squad Three: Captain Ron Cobos and Firefighters Mark Tirman and Rey Higuera. On one of the darkest days in American history, the call for help went out, and #PHXFire answered. Phoenix firefighters deployed as part of Arizona Task Force 1 to Ground Zero, joining first responders from across the country in the search, rescue, and recovery efforts following the attacks of September 11, 2001. They stood among the rubble, alongside their brothers and sisters from across the nation, doing what firefighters do: showing up when people needed help most. Twenty-five years later, we remember the lives lost, the heroes who ran toward danger, and the sacrifices that followed. #NeverForget
