The short-stick defensive midfielder position is one of the most overlooked in lacrosse and has provided stability for Syracuse. After Carter Rice, who accrued 19 ground balls last year, was selected in the Premier Lacrosse League draft, the Orange needed reinforcements. Ohio State transfer Dante Bowen leads the charge at the position with six ground balls and four caused turnovers. Jake Spallina is the only returner of the group from last year, and he’s upped his defensive production. Even freshman Jayden Kittelberger forced three turnovers on Sunday against Penn. “We feel good about our shortstick group,” SU defensive coordinator John Odierna said. Click the link in our bio to learn more.
