The Hayabusa rewrote what production motorcycles were capable of when it arrived in 1999 — a 1,340cc inline-four that held the outright production motorcycle top speed record until manufacturers voluntarily agreed to limit output at 300km/h. For a generation of riders it was the answer to every straight line question.
