83 TO 89 IN 5 WEEKS!
When Ryan came back from the spring season, he knew he needed more velocity to separate himself. The easy answer would've been more mound work. Instead, we took a step backward.
His arm was arriving late into foot strike and his lower half was limiting how efficiently he could transfer energy. So the first week wasn't spent on the mound. It was spent sitting on the ground, learning how to move the ball more efficiently from one of the most constrained positions possible.
Every progression brought a new PR. Seated throws. Two knees. Split stance. Flat grounds. Five weeks after topping out at 83 MPH in-game, Ryan was sitting 88-89 MPH with improved force plate outputs and an arm that feels better than ever.
Sometimes the fastest way forward is taking a step back and fixing the limiter first.
