Most founders guess how many sales reps they need. You set a revenue goal. You know you need more sales reps to hit it. But if you can't say the exact number, you're not planning — you're hoping. The math is simpler than it feels. Take your revenue gap. Divide it by what your average rep actually produces in a year. That number is your real recruiting target. Say you're at $1M and want to hit $10M in the next 3–5 years. That's a $9M gap. If your average rep produces $300K a year, you need 30 reps recruited and retained at that production level to close it.
