A healthy relationship should feel like home.
And by that I don’t mean everything is always peaceful or that you never disappoint each other, get irritated, or have a terrible day.
I mean there’s a basic feeling of we’re on the same team.
Your partner cares about what matters to you. They’re excited when something good happens for you. They notice when you’re struggling. They know when you need encouragement and when you just need someone beside you.
And they remind you, in all sorts of small ways, that they see you.
I think we underestimate how important that is in a long-term relationship.
We all want to feel that the person who knows us best still likes us. Still believes in us. Still notices the things we’re proud of. Still sees who we are becoming.
That’s a big part of what makes someone feel like home to me.
You get to be fully yourself there ♥️
