More than 300 dogs took part in the Ground Zero search-and-rescue effort after 9/11. 🕊️ Many dogs grew visibly depressed once they stopped finding survivors, having been trained to associate their work with successful finds. To avoid this, firefighters would sometimes hide in the rubble themselves, letting the dogs “find” them and get their reward, keeping them motivated to keep working under such conditions. #newyork #neverforget #doglife #dog
