After more than 20 years working with fat loss and body recomposition, one mistake keeps showing up: people treat the diet like the entire process.
It isn’t.
Your body adapts as you lose weight. Hunger changes. Energy expenditure changes. Your food environment is constantly pushing you toward eating more. And the faster you try to force the process, the easier it becomes to sacrifice muscle, performance and adherence along the way.
That’s why I prefer a different approach.
Lose fat. Consolidate. Reassess.
Spend a period deliberately losing fat while prioritizing protein and strength training. Then bring calories back toward maintenance without abandoning the habits that got you there.
Learn to maintain your new body.
Only then decide whether you actually need another fat-loss phase.
