What do stones remember? In AlUla, every mark holds a message; every carving bears the trace of the hand that made it.
Etched into AlUla’s sandstone cliffs, thousands of inscriptions have outlived the people and civilizations that carved them—preserving traces of journeys, beliefs and lives across millennia.
In Episode 4 of Nab’d AlUla, our series produced in partnership with rcu_ksa , two community members guide us through AlUla’s remarkable inscriptional landscape, including Jabal Ikmah—often described as an “open-air library” and inscribed on UNESCO’s Memory of the World International Register in 2023.
From ancient prayers to names and messages left by passing travellers, each inscription is a voice reaching across time.
