Schalke scored its first goal of the season on the road in Köpenick Friday night, and then scored two more in a 3-1 win over Union Berlin. Stadion an der Alten Försterei (the Stadium at the Old Forestry) is one of my favorite matchday environments and didn’t disappoint no matter the result for the home fans. The smoke from grilling bratwurst mixed with the smoke from flares to keep a regular cloud over the pitch for most of the match, and yeah, it’s pretty cool. FC Union Berlin 1:3 FC Schalke 04 ⚽ | 1.
