On the 125th anniversary of one of the most important events in Buffalo’s history, CHS was proud to join the Erie County Historical Commission and the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site in placing a memorial wreath at the site where President William McKinley died on September 14, 1901, eight days after being shot. Canisius students and history teacher Justin Siuta helped mark the date today by placing the wreath at the historic marker on our campus that recognizes the Milburn House, which once stood at the corner of West Ferry Street and Delaware Avenue. The wreath placement was just one of several commemoration events on the anniversary of the tragic death of President McKinley and the inauguration of President Theodore Roosevelt (which occurred just down Delaware Avenue).
