Victoria Silva, a coloradostateuniversity biochemistry major, played a key role in securing water quality regulations in mobile home parks after learning that elevated levels of lead were found in the water at the mobile home park where they live. Silva conducted quantitative and qualitative research on the issue of elevated lead levels in water. Some mobile home park residents said that they hadn’t dared to consume their drinking water since the 1980s.
