Did you know that under current law: - Maryland sends more young people to adult court, per capita, based solely on the charge, than any other state except for Alabama. - Youth as young as 14 are automatically charged as if they were adults in Maryland. - Nearly 80 percent of the youth charged in adult court in Maryland are Black. The Youth Charging Reform Act would narrow the list of offenses that trigger automatic adult charges for 16- and 17-year-olds. We can and must treat our children better!
