Today was a landmark day for Trinity as the plaque confirming the renaming of its main Library after the poet Eavan Boland was finally installed. The renaming follows an extensive process of research and public consultation, reflecting Trinity’s commitment to human dignity, freedom, inclusivity and equality. The Library is the first building on Trinity’s city centre campus to be named after a woman. One of the foremost women in Irish literature, Boland’s poetry transformed the place of women in Irish writing, moving women from the object of poetry to its subject. Inside the Eavan Boland Library, a multimedia display on the denaming and renaming of the library is open to visitors. #TrinityCollegeDublin
