Dunlop has been part of this story since long before Luft existed. Since 1888, when a bicycle tire in Belfast changed the shape of tires everywhere, Dunlop has been in the mix at Le Mans more than any other tire manufacturer in the race’s history. Porsche’s own 956 and 962 ran on Dunlop rubber through some of the marque’s most dominant years, and long before that, a Porsche 356 crossed the finish line at Liège-Rome-Liège on the same rubber. There’s a chicane on the Circuit de la Sarthe that still carries their name.
