Lima is a city of ten million with two of the best restaurants in the world, a 1,000-year-old pyramid in the middle of a shopping district, and almost no golf.
This original film from The Golfer's Journal follows Tom Coyne through a week at the Latin America Amateur Championship, where the winner earns starts at The Masters, U.S. Open and Open Championship. Between rounds, Coyne eats piranha at a restaurant once ranked the best on earth, watches dancers in eagle masks circle an adobe pyramid where the Claret Jug sits on the steps, and meets the players and officials who spent a decade getting this tournament to Peru. Then he drives an hour out of the city to a nine-hole course beside an airstrip, where kids learn the game in the dirt.
Local Rules: Lima shows what golf can mean to a country just discovering it.
