DYK that Franklin County was once known as the "Moonshine Capital of the World"? That's right! Virginia had a stronghold in the illegal moonshine business back in the day during the Prohibition era. In more modern times, moonshine has become legal, and has made a huge comeback in the industry. Some notable moonshinin' Virginians include the Bondurant Boys, who were known as "rumrunners" in Franklin County back in the 1930s.
