Fort Hood Directorate of Emergency Service Fire Department held a push-in ceremony for their long-awaited aerial fire truck Sept. 11 at Fire Station 1. The push-in ceremony dates to the 17th and 18th centuries when fire departments used horse-drawn equipment. The horses could not back the steam engines into the station bay areas, so firefighters manually pushed the apparatus inside.
