After starring in The New York Sales in May, Haring’s House returns to Sotheby’s this October with an online auction celebrating the remarkable collection assembled and preserved by Kermit Oswald, Keith Haring’s lifelong best friend and collaborator. The presentation brings many works to public view for the first time. Oswald was both a witness to and participant in Haring’s creative life, offering friendship, support, and inspiration that helped shape the artist’s development. As a result, the collection provides an unusually intimate perspective on Haring’s artistic process and serves as a visual diary spanning subject matter and media including rare early prints, drawings, paintings, collages, wood carvings, and found objects.
