A selection of works spanning from the 15th century to today will come to #SothebysNewYork in a series of auctions beginning in November. ‘Expanding Horizons: The Hedreen Collection’ reflects the Seattle natives’ remarkable breadth that defines their approach to collecting. Devoted philanthropists and passionate collectors for six decades, Richard and Elizabeth Hedreen were among the very first to place considerable emphasis on juxtaposing art from across the ages, from Old Masters to Contemporary art. Highlights from the collection being sold by Dick Hedreen and his family include major painting by Roy Lichtenstein and Cecily Brown, together with a moving ‘Mater Dolorosa’ by Titian, a striking Northern Renaissance portrait by Georg Pencz, and a Baroque masterpiece by Bartolomeo Cavarozzi.
