How can I help when communicating with someone living with #aphasia? 🗣️ ❤️If you’re having difficulty understanding their communication, be honest and tell them: “I’m sorry, I don’t understand – let’s try again.” ❤️ Use alternative communication systems if appropriate (ex. keyboard, written expression, communication applications on devices, etc.) ❤️ Asking careful ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ questions instead of open-ended questions. Give plenty of time to respond. Don’t ask too many questions too quickly--they may feel overwhelmed and become frustrated. #StrokeOnward #strokeawareness #strokerecovery #strokesurvivors #strokesurvivor #speechtherapy #aphasia #brucewillis #aphasia #aphasiaawareness #aphasiatherapy #aphasiarecovery #aphasiaaccess #aphasians #aphasiastrong #speechtherapist
