Neer Patel and Grady Wright, sophomores at the University of Missouri, are spearheading a project to hand out 5,000 boxes of naloxone during National Hazing Prevention Week. “What we found is that the funding isn't the problem; it's the systematic inequalities that exist within our healthcare system that lack that,” Patel said. “That's why people lack access to care, and we wanted to change that.” Naloxone, known to some as NARCAN, is a life-saving nasal spray that can reverse the effects of an overdose. The duo has used their startup, Atlas Health Equity Group, to reach out to students and provide life-saving resources and health education.
