Carolina Herrera met Andy Warhol in the late 1970s, before founding her namesake House. Their friendship grew through a shared New York life with Reinaldo Herrera and a close circle that included Diana Vreeland, Robert Mapplethorpe, Halston and Bianca Jagger. From dinners at Regine’s and Mortimer’s to nights at Studio 54, they moved through a world where art, fashion and culture continually intersected. Their connection extended beyond the social life of the city. Warhol photographed Herrera at the Factory and created a series of painted portraits from the Polaroids he took there. He was also there when she presented her first collection at the Metropolitan Club in 1981, and continued to attend her shows in the years that followed. 45 years of Herrera.
