Mr. T says he didn't want to host Saturday Night Live the night before WrestleMania I. Mr. T and Hulk Hogan hosted SNL on March 30, 1985, then wrestled Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff at Madison Square Garden the next afternoon. On What's Your Story with Steph McMahon, Mr. T said he was in character the whole weekend and complaining about it. "I said, man, we shouldn't be on these shows, man. Piper and them, they resting up, they training, we promoting. Man, I don't want to do these shows." He said the Liberace appearance and the sketches piled up: "I said, oh man, this is too much." Looking back: "It was wonderful. It was fun. A lot of memories. You had to be there." He also said the hardest part of WrestleMania I was convincing wrestlers he wasn't cutting in on them.
