The Hawkeye Marching Band from The University of Iowa honored Derek Phillips during halftime, performing the show he had helped prepare for the previous week’s game. The performance ended with the band spelling out his name across the field. ❤️ Derek sadly passed away after collapsing during the Hawkeyes’ season opener amid extreme heat. At Marching Trend, we extend our deepest condolences to Derek’s family, friends, students, and every member of the Hawkeye Marching Band who called him family. We’re sending love and heartfelt hugs to everyone grieving this tremendous loss. May Derek’s passion, kindness, and memory live on through the people and music he touched. 🕊️ hawkeyemarchingband 🎥: thedailyiowan [Clip Credits] #iowa #marchingband #halftime #game #hawkeyes
