Parents at Corona del Sol High School are still demanding answers weeks after a former Tempe Union employee was accused of accessing and downloading private security footage of female students.
Antony Cruz, 28, worked as a surveillance officer for the district. Investigators say he discovered a school security camera was recording inside a dance room that students had been using to change while the girls’ locker room was under renovation. Court documents say staff and students had requested the camera be turned off for privacy, but it remained on.
Instead of reporting what was being captured, police allege Cruz accessed the footage and downloaded multiple videos. Investigators say at least seven recordings showed students ages 13 to 15 in various states of undress. Records also allege some footage was accessed remotely from Cruz’s home and saved to personal devices.
Cruz has pleaded not guilty to voyeurism charges and was being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond following his arrest.
