A 21-year-old Queen Creek man was arrested after DPS says he showed signs of impairment following a deadly crash involving a family that had stopped to help change a flat tire in Mesa. Around 1 a.m. Wednesday, a driver got a flat tire and pulled onto the emergency shoulder near Higley Road. Family members arrived to help change the tire, and as the group was getting ready to leave, troopers say Zachary Robert Penrod crashed into both stopped vehicles. A woman passed away at the scene. Two other people were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. DPS says Penrod showed signs of impairment and was taken into custody after suffering non-life-threatening injuries. The crash remains under investigation by DPS’ vehicle crimes unit. Via: Arizona DPS #Mesa #Arizona #MesaAZ #ArizonaNews #Phoenix
