A man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend in Phoenix more than 25 years ago has finally been returned to Arizona after authorities tracked him down in Mexico. U.S. Marshals say 65-year-old Abraham Rafael Pedroza-Garcia was wanted in connection with a deadly stabbing on April 1, 2000. Investigators say he entered his former girlfriend’s Phoenix home, fatally stabbed her and also stabbed her partner before fleeing. A warrant was issued for his arrest later that year, but Pedroza-Garcia remained wanted for decades. The U.S. Marshals Service joined the investigation in 2023 and developed information the following year indicating he was living in Mexico. Mexican authorities arrested him in May 2026 after a warrant was issued there. Pedroza-Garcia was brought back to Arizona on September 11 and is now facing pending charges of murder, aggravated assault and burglary.
