In a win for voters, the Supreme Court has rejected Trump’s attempt to reinstate restrictions on mail voting ahead of November’s midterm elections. The ruling means states can continue to mail absentee ballots to millions of Americans who choose to vote by mail. One third of the electorate, or 47 million people, received mail-in ballots in 2024. For generations, Black communities have fought to expand access to the ballot. Mail voting is part of that history, especially for voters in rural communities, disabled voters, seniors, and people facing barriers at the polls.
