Hope y’all enjoyed learning about the American Lotus! In south Louisiana, it’s referred to as the original Cajun peanut. Its edible seeds are called graine à voler (pronounced grahn-ah-vo-lay), a Cajun French term translating to “seeds that fly”. Peek harvest months in Louisiana are August and September where we harvest the green seed pods. The seeds can be eaten raw, but I prefer them boiled! The tubers are also edible! #lotus #peanut
