Caring is scary. If you try your hardest and it still doesn’t work, that hurts. So a lot of kids protect themselves by acting like they don’t care. Too cool to try, jogging through drills, laughing it off first. I get it. I’ve cried after losses. I’ve missed shots that mattered. But you can’t get great at something you’re pretending not to love. Care out loud. Try in front of people. Fail in front of people. It’s okay to care. It’s okay to fail. It’s not okay to waste your talent acting like you don’t want it.
