OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder stepped in as a key creative partner for Tate McRae, executive producing 'Greedy' alongside Amy Allen and Jasper Harris, with Tedder and Harris also handling production together with Grant Boutin. McRae has said the song grew out of an early-2000s mood board she'd assembled while shaping the sound of her second studio album, 'Think Later,' pointing directly to Nelly Furtado's "Promiscuous" and Timbaland's signature production as reference points during the writing process. She and Tedder initially clashed creatively during their first Zoom session together, each insisting on their own way of working, before eventually settling into a rhythm that shaped much of the album.
