Social media platforms are flooded with online ads promoting retatrutide — which has exploded in popularity online, even though the experimental weight-loss drug isn’t FDA-approved.
A CBS News investigation found more than 80 businesses promoting retatrutide while touting certification from LegitScript, a credential that helps healthcare companies advertise on major social platforms. LegitScript said the companies were flagged through its monitoring and represent a tiny fraction of the businesses it monitors. The organization said some companies chose to give up their certification, while others were suspended.
But CBS News found some continued offering retatrutide. One example was DrBrainRx, which said an offering would be “taken down immediately.” Days later, CBS News found the company was still selling the drug through a different link. Its LegitScript certification remained active. #retatrutide#investigation
