It’s been an incredible honor to carry Ella May Wiggins’ story through my work. The more I learned about her, the more I felt the weight of what she stood for: a mother, mill worker, songwriter, and organizer who fought for dignity and solidarity across racial lines at a time when doing so carried a very real cost. Painting her here in Bessemer City, where so much of that history still lives, has meant a great deal to me. I hope this mural helps keep her story alive, and gives people a reason to stop, look, and learn about the woman behind it. #EllaMayWiggins #BessemerCity #LaborHistory #PublicArt #Mural
