Yall see the comparison⁉️😳🤦🏾♂️
Converse is facing major backlash after an advertisement for its Chuck 70 X sneakers was compared online to imagery associated with the Ku Klux Klan and lynching.
The campaign featured K-pop star Karina of aespa holding a pair of black Converse while wearing a long white skirt. Critics said the lighting created what appeared to be a pointed white hood, while the dangling shoes reminded some viewers of a person being hanged.
Converse has since removed the image and apologized, saying it understands why the image was “deeply upsetting” and acknowledging that the company “got this wrong.” The brand said it is working to remove the image everywhere it appeared.
There is currently no evidence that the imagery was intentionally designed as a reference to the KKK or lynching.
Many question How does something like this make it through a major brand’s approval process? Thoughts⁉️🤔⤵️
