Mentor Spotlight: Asaad “AB” Bruno asaadbruno is one of the mentors for our upcoming Half-time Fashion Show at the last home game of the season, in partnership with thredup and poweredwithava. AB is an Oakland-based interdisciplinary artist and slow-fashion designer specializing in upcycling, tailoring and customization—a mixed-media practice exploring function, purpose and identity, driven by collaboration and rooted in sustainability. AB was born in the Bay Area to Algerian immigrant parents and partly raised in southern France, where he discovered graffiti as a teenager before pursuing formal fashion design studies and working in the industry, notably as a denim tailor with Levi’s.
