🎬 Universal Studios Tour History — 1981 Here’s an incredible survivor from Universal’s past: an original 1981 Universal Studios Tour plastic bag promoting the Special Effects Stage, presented by Kodak. Take a closer look at the artwork. The destruction depicted on the bag comes from Universal’s 1974 motion picture Earthquake, a fitting choice for an attraction devoted to showing guests how Hollywood created spectacular movie effects. The Special Effects Stage featured actor Robert Wagner as the attraction’s video host, appearing in prerecorded segments rather than hosting the presentation in person. Guests were taken behind the scenes to see demonstrations of the techniques used to create special effects for motion pictures and television. The attraction was housed in Soundstages 30 and 32, two buildings that no longer exist. Today, that area of Universal Studios Hollywood is occupied by TRANSFORMERS: The Ride-3D.
