🎬 Universal Studios Tour History — 1981 Here’s a pretty incredible survivor from Universal’s past: an original 1981 Universal Studios Tour plastic bag promoting the Special Effects Stage, presented by Kodak. The artwork alone is a fantastic time capsule, featuring imagery inspired by the motion picture Earthquake (1974) with destruction alongside the unmistakable Universal Studios Tour branding of the era. The Special Effects Stage was (video) hosted by actor Robert Wagner and gave guests a behind-the-scenes look at how movie and television special effects were created. The attraction was housed in Soundstages 30 and 32, buildings that are no longer standing. Today, that same area of the Universal Studios Hollywood property is home to TRANSFORMERS: The Ride-3D.
