On average, women are paid about 20% less than men. In some regions — and for women of colour, immigrant women and mothers — the gap is even wider. This discriminatory gap undermines women’s rights, weakens income security, and holds back inclusive, sustainable economic growth. On Friday’s International Equal Pay Day, unwomen is calling for #EqualPay for work of equal value — a key milestone for human rights and gender equality that, despite global progress, no country has fully achieved.
