It’s 2013. Vine is making you giggle and Ben Affleck is Batman. It’s 2013. Instagram has a chronological feed and flash mobs are still a thing. It’s 2013 and Childish Gambino’s sophomore album “Because the Internet”, drops accompanied by the film Clapping for the Wrong Reasons. That album has been glued to my ears since, staying in my top ten most listened to albums for 13 years straight. Why? Because, the internet used to be my best friend. As an only child, I was really excited by the idea of connecting with other people. Collapsing a 42-minute train commute with a set of headphones and endless articles, podcasts and videos meant never really being alone. There was always something to laugh at or react to, something to share, or someone to text. The entire world was before me, or at least it felt like it.
