The King at 100: Clifton Chenier closes October 4!
Born in Opelousas in 1925, Clifton Chenier transformed the French Creole music of his childhood by blending it with rhythm and blues to help shape the sound we now know as zydeco. From pioneering recordings to the creation of the frottoir alongside his brother Cleveland, Chenier’s influence on Louisiana music—and music around the world—is undeniable.
If you haven’t experienced the exhibit yet, now’s the time. Come explore the life, music and legacy of the King of Zydeco before it’s gone.
