Airtel Africa’s data center arm, Nxtra, has officially commenced construction on a 34-megawatt hyperscale data center in Lagos, Nigeria. The facility will provide high-density colocation and cloud infrastructure designed to support enterprise digital transformation across West Africa.
The facility features next-generation cooling efficiency and power redundancy to maintain high-uptime standards for regional businesses. As African enterprises accelerate their migration to cloud environments, localized infrastructure reduces latency and ensures compliance with data protection laws that require sensitive financial and user data to remain within national borders.
This development strengthens the region's overall compute power, establishing a foundation for enterprise software adoption, fintech expansion, and local artificial intelligence deployments.
