We’ve been taught that butterflies are a good sign.
That rush. The excitement. The feeling that you can’t stop thinking about someone. We call it chemistry.

Your nervous system may be reacting to uncertainty, inconsistency, or something that feels deeply familiar from your past.
And if you’re used to relationships where love had to be earned, chased, or worried about, someone who is kind, consistent, and emotionally available might actually feel less exciting at first.
That doesn’t mean you should never trust chemistry. It means chemistry alone isn’t enough information.
Pay attention to what happens underneath the butterflies.
Do you feel excited AND safe? Can you be yourself? Do their words and actions match? Or are you already wondering where you stand, watching your phone, and trying to figure them out?
Sometimes what feels like a spark is attraction.
And sometimes it’s your nervous system recognizing an old pattern.
