We are so honored to have Captain Colleen Nevius join us as part of the class of 2019 Old Masters! ✨
Captain Colleen Nevius earned her Bachelor of Science in Management in 1977 from Purdue University and was commissioned an ensign through the Purdue NROTC. Selected as part of the third group of women admitted to Navy flight training, she arrived at Pensacola with the intention of flying helicopters, a position primarily held by men. In 1979, Nevius earned her helicopter rating and was one of the first two female helicopter pilots to serve aboard a seagoing vessel. In 1983 she was the first female Naval Aviator to graduate from the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School, and subsequently served as a test pilot for the H-46 and CH-53E helicopters. She was the first female member of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots. She retired with the rank of Captain after 26 years of active and reserve duty. We are ecstatic to bring Captain Colleen Nevius back to campus!
