Buying a house in Tucson or Southern Arizona, and the one you love is over budget? Don’t cross it off yet.
My buyers found their dream home sitting nearly $40,000 above what they could spend. We toured homes in their price range. None of them stood a chance.
So we wrote the offer anyway. The seller said no. I went back to the table. Another no. We kept negotiating.
Where it landed: a purchase price almost $40K under asking, plus new tile through the entire house and a roof with a 10-year warranty.
Here’s what that deal taught me as a buyer’s agent: a rejected offer isn’t always the end of a negotiation. Sometimes it’s the start of one. Price, repairs, terms... there’s more room than most homebuyers realize, if someone’s willing to keep asking.
Not every deal lands like this one. Every seller and every market is different. But you’ll never find out from an offer you didn’t write.
