Derrick Rose looked unstoppable. Growing up in Chicago, he went from local phenomenon to the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft, and at just 22 years old became the youngest MVP in league history.
Then everything changed. A torn ACL began years of injuries, surgeries, setbacks, and questions about whether he would ever be the same player again. But Rose refused to disappear. He kept fighting for his career, eventually delivering one of basketball’s most emotional comeback moments when he scored a career-high 50 points for Minnesota in 2018.
His story is proof that greatness isn’t only about reaching the top. Sometimes it’s about finding the strength to keep going after everything falls apart.
