Protecting my sensory needs sometimes looks like this 😂❄️🧠
For some autistic people, temperature can be a BIG sensory thing. What feels “way too cold” to someone else might be exactly what helps our body feel comfortable and regulated.
I used to think I had to make myself uncomfortable so everyone else could be comfortable. Now I’m learning that accommodating my sensory needs isn’t being difficult, it’s understanding what my nervous system needs. 🩵
So yes… my car is staying cold, Mom can have my hoodie😬
Every autistic person has different sensory needs, and what helps me regulate may be completely different for someone else.
