Check out this split-gripped, slap-hitting sensation! 🤩 If you recognize the name Luis Durango, you might be thinking of the Panamanian outfielder that played in the majors from 2009-2011; well, this is his son, Luis Durango Jr., who tore up the minors this year with his throwback hitting style. In search of supreme bat control and a high contact rate, Durango has been working on this very old-school choked-up split grip, and at times he even steps forward in the box mid-pitch à la softball. Unusual for sure, but it’s working! Durango batted .320 over 259 at bats and tallied a massive 46 stolen bases. Could we see his throwback approach and blazing speed at Yankee Stadium sometime in the future? Here’s hoping!
