A SUBTLE head start can be the difference between a runner being safe and a runner being out⬇️ Pre-catch movement is essentially beginning to organize your lower half as the pitch is coming in, so you’re already moving into your throwing position when the ball hits your glove One clarification that I would like to make is when I say “cheat“ your movement before the catch, I’m not saying to completely commit your body before you know where the pitch is going. Pre catch movement is subtle and adaptable to the pitch. Whether you’re using a pivot throw or a jab step, the goal is the same: get your body moving in the direction of the throw, get your back foot to the ground efficiently, and put yourself in a position to exchange and release the ball quickly This doesn’t mean making a huge move early or sacrificing actually securing the pitch.
