Led by major paintings from Edgar Degas and Mary Cassatt, ‘Armand Hammer | The Private Collection' brings a selection of works from one of the 20th century’s most celebrated collectors to Sotheby’s this fall. Standout pieces include Degas' luminous ‘Trois danseuses (Jupes jaunes)’ and Cassatt's radiant ‘Summertime,’ pictured above, which is poised to set a new auction record for the artist. These works will join paintings from Renoir and Pissarro in a special Los Angeles preview exhibition from 23 – 25 September. Together, they showcase the breadth and quality of Dr. Hammer's collecting vision and his enduring appreciation for many of the defining figures of Modern art.
